To anyone who is taking the time to read this, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I don’t think you will ever know how much it means to me that you are taking the time to read this and understand my journey. I hope this helps you understand that health is everything and without it we are nothing.
Do we really understand the term for Health?
Health is defined as “The state of being free from illness or injury” or “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” (World Health Organisation, 1948). After looking at these definitions I can honestly say there are not many people I know who fall under this category. Somehow, health has been forgotten about and fitness is now deemed as healthy. The “what’s your excuse” mentality is the motto I see personal trainers, commercial gyms and social media use to guilt us into getting ‘healthy’. I actually hear people boast about how much pain they are in after a workout or how busy someone is; to me this crazy and wrong.
For those who don’t know me, I have been in the personal training industry around 10 years. During this time I have seen many trends come and go, all claiming to have the secrets to a healthy lifestyle or that super supplement to help unlock your dream body. There is so much information and conflicting data that I can completely understand why so many of us are more confused than ever.
I wanted to create a blog for numerous reasons, the main reason being that I want to help as many people as possible. I am still on the pursuit of health and have been for some time. It has not been easy and I don’t expect it to be. Furthermore, I am not going to hide parts of story to make me look better (like how social media is today) I will be honest, maybe controversial in order to get my point across. There is a major health epidemic happening today and if we are not careful the quality (or lack) of our lives will be the end result.
